AVCO-COAT BLO

ACRYLIC COMPOUND FOR BLACK – OUT COATING

AVCO-COAT BLO is an aqueous acrylic compound used for producing black-out effects on textile fabrics by means of crushed foam coating application in the triple coat technique.

AVCO-COAT BLO is used together with suitable foaming agents and foam stabilizer.

Compatibility Is not compatible with cationic products.
Storage 1. Sensitive to frost. Once frozen the product cannot be re-used.

2. Partially used drums should be re-sealed.

3. The shelf life in proper storage conditions is at least 6 months.

PROPERTIES & USES:

1. AVCO-COAT BLO produces flexible film which is resistant to washing and dry cleaning.

2. AVCO-COAT BLO is designed for the foam coating technique.

3. AVCO-COAT BLO is an aqueous preparation, and does not release harmful vapours during the drying process.

4. When applied in the proper way the product is producing an excellent black-out effect, used for producing curtaining fabrics, blinds, window shades, furnishing fabrics, bags, and other technical items.

APPLICATION

For producting the black-out effect prepare the basic coating paste by blending in foaming agents, foam stabilizer and a cross-linking agent.

The basic coating paste should be further mixed with AVCO-LOR WHITE T or AVCO-LOR BLACK CH pigments, as indicated in the following tables.

BASIC FOAM COATING PASTE

AVCO-COAT BLO 956 – 897
AVCO-FOAMER FLS 2 – 5
AVCO-FOAMER SLI 4 – 8
STABIFOAM AS 30 – 80
AVCO-FIXATOR HM 8 – 10
1000

Remark: The concentration of the foaming agents and the foam stabilizer can be adjusted according to the desired effect.

1. Mix well with a low speed mixer.

2. Adjust to pH 9.5-10 with ammonia solution.

3. If needed adjust the viscosity to 20-40 dPa.s (use AVCO-THICKENER A).

4. For the best black-out effect a triple coating technique should be used: Apply a base white coat followed by a second black coat and finally a third white top-coat.

5. Prepare the three coating pastes according to the following table:

First coat Second coat Third coat
Basic foam coating paste 920 900 920
AVCO-LOR WHITE TD 80 80
AVCOLOR BLACK CH 100
pH 9.5 – 10 9.5 – 10 9.5 – 10
Viscosity (d.Pa.s) 20 – 40 20 – 40 20 – 40
Foam weight (g/l) 200 – 220 210 – 230 220 – 240
Coat height (mm) 0.3 0.6 0.8
Drying time (sec) at 100°C 60 90 120

6. The white top coat can be tinted with AVCOLOR PIGMENTS.

7. Filter to remove any dried particles.

8. Foaming is done with an industrial foam generator to foam density of 200-240 g/litre.

9. The coating is done with a doctor knife and other coating ranges.

10. Apply to the fabric about 35-70 g/m2 per coat.

11. The wet foam coat should be dried at 100-110°C and subsequently cold pressed (crushed) before further coat can be applied. The white layers can be tinted with any pigment from the AVCO-LOR pigment dispersions range to the desired colour (check light fastness properties).

12. After completion of the coating processes curing is done by fixation in the oven at 150-160°C for 2-3 minutes.

13. If needed the curing can be combined with a final finishing process such as water and oil repellency.

14. If desired a special coating can be done on the other side of the fabric with tinted or untinted AVCO-COAT AC-B.

15. Partially used drums should be resealed with the original cover.

16. Add AVCO-FIXATOR HM to the AVCO-COAT BLO only before use.

17. Ready made foam coating paste should be used as soon as possible. Remainings should be used within a few days.
