OPTICAL BRIGHTENER FOR CELLULOSIC AND POLYAMIDE FIBRES
Concentrated optical brightener for cellulosic fibres with excellent stability to acids. Excellent white effects are also achieved on polyamide fibres and wool.

SPECIFICATION:

Appearance Brownish yellow liquid, with fluorescent hue.
Chemical nature Distyryl derivative, in aqueous preparation.
Compatibility Is not compatible with cationics.
Ionicity Anionic
pH (10% sol.) app. 9.0
Shade on fibres The product produces a bluish white shade.
Solubility Soluble in any ratio in water.
Specific gravity app. 1.17
Storage Sensitive to frost. Fully useable after thawing and stirring. Shelf life is at least 12 months.

APPLICATION:

FASTNESS PROPERTIES (on fabric):
  1. Light fastness – 3 – 4 (cotton), 4 – 5 (polyamide)
  2. Washing fastness 1 (40°C) – 5
  3. Washing fastness 3 (60°C) – 4 – 5
  4. Washing fastness 4 (95°C) – 3 – 4
  5. Fastness to acid and alkali – Fast to solutions at pH range of 1-12
  6. Fastness to dry heat setting(180°C) – Very good
  7. Fastness to pressing (dry,damp,wet) – Very good
  8. Fastness to hypochlorite bleaching – Good
  9. Fastness to chlorite bleaching – Unstable
  10. Fastness to peroxide bleaching – Very good
FASTNESS PROPERTIES (in the bleaching liquor)
  1. Hypochlorite – Not stable
  2. Sodium chlorite – Not stable
  3. Peroxide – Very good
  4. Reducing agents – Very good
  5. Stability to hard water – Not stable
  6. Stability to acid and alkali – Stable at pH range of 1-12
GUIDING FORMULATIONS:
  1. Cellulosic yarns and fabrics by exhaust method.
    AVCOLUX ELP 0.2 – 0.6 %
    Glauber salt 2.0 – 5.0 g/l

    treat for 20 minutes at 40 – 60°C.
  2. Polyamide yarns and fabrics – reductive bleaching:
    AVCOLUX ELP 1.0 – 1.5 %
    BLANKIT IN 1.0 – 3 g/l
    Treat for 30 – 60 minutes at 95 – 100°C or 30 minutes at 120°C – 125°C.
  3. One step peroxide bleaching and optical brightening of cotton.
    AVCO-BLANKINOL AWS 3.0 – 4 g/l
    H2O2 (50%) 6.0 – 10 g/l
    AVCOLUX ELP 0.3 – 0.6 %
    Treat for 45 minutes at 90-95°C.
  4. Application in resin finishing bath of cellulosic fabrics.

    AVCOREZ LFR CONC- 40.0 – 60 g/l
    AVCO-SUPERFINISH SNI- 20.0 – 40 g/l
    Magnesium Chloride -12.0 – 18 g/l
    Citric acid (acetic acid) -0.1 – 0.5 g/l
    AVCOLUX ELP -2.0 – 6 g/l

    Pad, dry and cure at 150 – 160°C
  5. Wool and silk fabrics by exhaust method.
    AVCOLUX ELP – 0.5 – 3.0 %
    BLANKIT IN – 3.0 – 5.0 g/l
    Treat for 30-60 minutes at 45-60°C.
