AVCO-LUX HLF

OPTICAL BRIGHTENER FOR CELLULOSIC AND POLYAMIDE FIBERS

AVCOLUX HLF is an optical brightener which has medium affinity towards cellulose fibres and high affinity towards polyamide.
AVCOLUX HLF exhibits very good fastness properties in the application bath and on the treated fibres.
AVCOLUX HLF has good fastness to acids, alkalis and to hypochlorite, chlorite, peroxide and hydrosulphite bleaching baths.
AVCOLUX HLF has improved dry and wet light fastness properties compared to other stilbene derivatives used as optical brighteners for cellulose and polyamide fibres.
AVCOLUX HLF is prefferably recommended when high demands of light fastness are required, e.g. for curtains and bathing articles.

SPECIFICATION:

Appearance Clear yellowish liquid with fluorescence hue.
Chemical nature Stilbene derivative in aqueous solution.
Compatibility Is not compatible with cationics and with heavy metals. Stable to water hardness up to 15°C dH.
Density 1.10 – 1.20.
Ionicity Anionic.
pH (10%) App. 4
Shade on fibres Reddish shade.
Solubility Soluble in water at any ratio.
Storage Sensitive to frost. Fully usable after thawing and stirring. Shelf life is at least 12 months.

APPLICATION:

  1. For brightening cellulosic fibres, excellent white effects are achieved when the AVCOLUX HLF is applied in peroxide bleaching baths at the temperature commonly used there. In order to achieve good levelness it is advisable to add the pre-dissolved optical brightener right at the beginning of the process or at low temperature.
  2. AVCOLUX HLF can be applied also in post reductive bleaching of cotton, after peroxide bleach.
  3. In the case of polyamide fibres AVCOLUX HLF is best used together with a reducing agent (e.g. “BLANKIT IN”).
  4. AVCOLUX HLF can be applied also in the acidic chlorite bleaching bath. This process is recommended for bleaching and brightening of cotton and polyamide fibres and their mixtures with polyester fibres.
GUIDING FORMULATIONS:
  1. Pre – bleached Cellulosic yarns and fabrics in exhaust machines:
    AVCOLUX HLF 0.5 – 1.0 %
    Sodium-sulphate 4.0- 6.0 g/l
    Treat for 30 minutes at 60.0 – 90°C.
  2. Cellulosic fabrics by the padding method
    Pad with 2-8 g/l AVCOLUX HLF
  3. One step peroxide bleaching and optical brightening of cotton.
    AVCO-BLANKINOL VLF 3.0- 4.0 g/l
    H202 (50%)6.0 – 8.0 cc/l
    AVCOLUX HLF0.5 – 1.0 %
    Treat for 45 minutes at 90-95°C.
    Drop bath and rinse.
  4. Polyamide yarns and fabrics – reductive bleaching:
    AVCO – BIOLUZE GLF 0.5-1.0 g/l
    AVCOLUX HLF0.5- 2.0 %
    “BLANKIT IN” 1.0 – 2.0 g/l
    Treat for 20 – 30 minutes at 80 – 90°C.
  5. Polyamide yarns and fabrics – bleaching in acid bath:
    AVCOLUX HLF 0.5- 2.0 %
    Adjust to pH = 4 with acetic acid.
    Treat for 30-45 min at 95° C.
  6. Bleaching of polyamide in continuous pad steam method
    AVCOLUX HLF 10 – 20 g/l
    Pad and steam at 102-104°C for 10-20 min.
  7. Chlorite bleaching of viscose, polyamide, cotton and their blends with polyester.
    AVCOLIT ABC – 2.0- 3.0g/l
    Sodium chlorite (50%) – 1.5- 2.0 g/l
    AVCOLUX HLF – 0.5- 2.0 %
    Formic acid – 0.5- 1.0 g/l (to pH = 4)
    Treat for 30-45 min. at 90-98°C.
