AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS

PRE–CATALYZED, LOW FREE FORMALDEHYDE “DMDHEU” RESIN

AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is a modified glyoxal resin, used as a thermosetting resin, to produce durable crease resistance and dimensional stability to cellulosic and polyester -cotton fabrics by the hot curing method.

AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is also recommended for producing permanenrt crease effects in ready-made garments.

It is a very low free formaldehyde resin, suitable for the ÖkoTex Standard application.

The product is ready-made compound containing in its composition latent acid catalyst needed for curing the resin .

PROPERTIES:

1. AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is used in applications such as “wash and wear”, “permanent-press”, ” shrinkage control”, durable embossed and glazed effects of cellulosic fibres.

2. Imparts low formaldehyde levels on the treated fabrics, meeting ÖkoTex Standards.

3. AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is fully compatible with other thermosetting resins, fluoro-carbons, hand builders, thermoplastics softeners, dye-fixatives, suitable optical brighteners and all classes of organic and inorganic catalysts.

4. Wash fastness of treated fabric to repeated laundries is excellent.

5. Minimizes tendency to yellowing.

6. Light fastness of dyed or printed fabrics with vat, sulphur, indigo and reactive dyes is not influenced by AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS.

7. AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is recommended for producing permanent creases in ready-made garments to obtain a fashionable look. This can be done by dipping garments in AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS solution or by local spraying of the garments with a solution of the product, followed by drying and by creating the desired creases using a mechanical process and finally fix at high temperature.

8. AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is suitable for application in one bath pigment dyeing and resin finishing recipes. Compatibility should be pre-checked before use.

9. AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS can be applied to knitted and woven fabrics.

10. Tensile strength loss caused by the resin is related to the quantity of product applied. co-application of AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS and AVCO-SOFT PE (Polyethylene emulsion) minimizes the loss in tensile strength.

11. The handle of fabrics treated with AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is softer than fabrics treated with urea formaldehyde or melamin resins.

12. The product contains in its formulation the needed amount of catalyst required for curing the resin.

APPLICATION:

AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS is applied by padding method as follows:

Ensure that the fabric is well prepared and neutralized correctly before resin finishing.

1. Padding:

This is carried out normally at room temperature. The padding baths are prepared by diluting the resin with cold water, adding a catalyst and other finishing agents. Adjust the pick-up to 70-100%. pH of the finishing bath should be adjusted to pH 4-5.

2. Drying:

After padding the fabric is dried at 110-1300C moisture should b 8% or less. Stenter frame is recommended to provide the desired fabric dimensions and to avoid creases, that would be set in the fabric during the curing operation.

3. Curing:

Cure at 145-155°C for 3 minutes or at 170-180°C for 30-40 seconds. There is a possibility of high speed curing at higher temperatures, but it is not possible to give full details here since curing requirements vary with the type of fabric being processed and the efficiency of the heat transfer in the curing equipment.

There is also the possibility for rapid curing via a single pass process combining one step drying/curing. This is done by drying and curing at 165-175°C for 45-90 seconds.

4. Washing:

This step is optional though it should be done for optimum results. The first washing is alkaline in order to neutralize the acidity developed by the catalyst thus avoiding formaldehyde odour. The washing is followed by final drying on the stenter.

5. Finishing formulations:

a. Woven cotton fabrics:

Acetic acid (60%) 0.2 cc/l (adjust to pH 5.0 – 5.5)
AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS 50 – 90 g/l
AVCO-SOFT PE 20 – 40 g/l
AVCO-ELASTOGUM ESM 10 – 20 g/l

b. Rayon filament fabrics:

AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS 120 – 200 g/l
AVCO-SOFT PE 30 – 50 g/l
AVCO-ELASTOGUM ESM 10 – 20 g/l

c. Crease-resist finish to improve the dimensional stability of cotton knits.

AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS 40 – 60 g/l
AVCO-ELASTOGUM 100 10 – 20 g/l
AVCO-BIOSOFT BS 20 – 30 g/l

d. Calandered finishes

The quality of embossed and chintz finished fabric is greatly influenced by the residual moisture content of the fabric.

The padded fabric is dried to residual moisture level of:

Cotton 6 – 10%.
Rayon staple 8 – 14%.

Calandering is then done at 160 – 200°C at pressure of 30 – 40 ton and followed by hot curing.

6. Permanent worn out look of cellulosic garments:

The garments are dipped in the treatment solution or treated in an industrial washing machine at 25-30ºC using liquor ratio of 1:6 – 1:10 for 10-20 minutes, followed by hydro extraction to a pick-up of 80-100% on fabric weight. After tumble drying at 80-90ºC the garments are cured at 150-160ºC for 3-6 minutes in the oven.

The treatment solution is composed of the following:

AVCO-CID PHS 0.5 – 1 g/l (adjust to pH 5 – 5.5
AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS 50 – 90 g/l
AVCO-ELASTOGUM MEC 10 – 20 g/l

The treatment liquor should be kept and re-used for several finishing cycles.

7. Localized creases in cellulosic garments

Spray diluted solution of AVCO-REZ ECO PLUS on the required area in the garment to obtain a local pick-up of 8-12% of the product on the weight of the fabric.

Air dry or dry at low temperature (80 –90°C). Produce by mechanical process the desired creases on the pre-sprayed area and transfer to high temperature fixation at 150-160°C for 4 – 8 minutes.
