AVCO-BUFFER V

ALKALI BUFFER FOR DYEING REACTIVE DYESTUFFS

AVCO-BUFFER V is an alkali donor used for dyeing reactive dyestuffs in jets, winches and jiggers.AVCO-BUFFER V is an alkali buffer which controls a constant alkaline pH in the dyeing liquor through the whole dyeing program.AVCO-BUFFER V is replacing usage of Sodium Carbonate (soda ash). Being an alkali buffer, it enables a stable pH level along the dyeing process and consequently produces a very uniform fixation of the reactive dyestuffs onto cellulosic fibres.

SPECIFICATION:

Appearance Colourless, clear liquid.
Chemical nature Inorganic alkaline buffer in aqueous solution.
Compatibility When using slightly hard water it is recommended to add a sequestering agent such as AVCO-POLYQUEST-RE. In general it is recommended to use soft water while dyeing. AVCO BUFFER V is not compatible with products sensitive to high alkalinity.
Density (at 25°C) App. 1.50 gr/cc
Foam Solutions of AVCO BUFFER V do not foam.
pH of 5% solution 11.5-12.2
Solubility Soluble in water at any proportion
Storage stability When properly stored in closed container shelf life is at least 12 months.

PROPERTIES & USES:

  1. Ensures a stable alkaline pH during the dyeing process of cellusic fibres with
    reactive dyes.
  2. Improvement of dyeing reproducibility.
  3. More level dyeing.
  4. Shortening of dyeing process.
  5. As AVCO-BUFFER V is a liquid product, it is very easy to handle it and to dose it
    to the dyeing machines.
  6. Use of liquid AVCO-BUFFER V eliminates handling and dissolving of large amounts
    of powdery soda ash.
  7. Soluble easily in cold water.
  8. Is not causing foam problems during application.

APPLICATION:

AVCO-BUFFER V is added to the dyeing liquor instead of Soda-Ash.
Following typical processes and quantity recommendation when using AVCO-BUFFER.
  • 1.DYEING 100% COTTON WITH BI-FUNCTIONAL DYES (VS-MCT) REMAZOL / SUMIFIX

    1. Add dyestuffs at 40°C.
    2. Add salt in portions.
    3. Heat to 60°C by 1°C/min.
    4. Run at 60°C for 10 min.
    5. Split AVCO-BUFFER V into 2 portions. (10% and 90% of the total).
Add first portion(10% of the total)- Dose lineary over 20 min.
Add second portion (the remainder) – Dose “curve – 05” over 30 min.
    6. Run additional 30-45 min. for fixation.
    ALTERNATIVE PROCESS:
    1. Add dyestuffs at 40°C.
    2. Add salt in portions.
    3. Run at 40°C for 10 min.
    4. Add first portion: 10% of the total of AVCO-BUFFER V – dose lineary over 20 min.
    5. Heat to 60°C by 1°C/min.
    6. Run at 60°C for 10 min.
    7. Add second portion (the remainder of AVCO-BUFFER V) – Dose “curve – 05” over 30 min.
    8. Run additional 30-45 min. for fixation.
  • 2.DYEING COTTON/LYCRA WITH BI-FUNCTIONAL DYES (VS-MCT)
    1. Start at 60°C. Add dyes (Dose lineary over 30 min).
    2. Add salt (split into 3 portions – 10%, 20%, 70%).
    3. Split AVCO-BUFFER V into 2 portions.
Add first portion: 5% of the total – Dose lineary over 30 min.
Add second portion: The remainder – Dose “curve- 07” over 45 min.

    4. Run additional 30-45 min. for fixation.
As a guide use the following dosage of AVCO-BUFFER V for dyeing bi-functional dyes. (L:R=1:10).
