AVCO-FIX EP-25

FIXING AGENT FOR THE EXHAUST PIGMENT DYEING SYSTEM

AVCOFIX EP-25 is a special fixing agent developed to produce a “wash-out” look on textile fabrics with pigments aqueous dispersions. The product can be used also for dyeing solid shades with AVCOGLOW or AVCOLOR PIGMENTS by the exhaust method.

SPECIFICATION:

Appearance Clear, almost colorless liquid.
Chemical nature Aqueous dispersion of a polymer containing quaternary ammonium groups.
Density (at 20°C) 1.0 g/cc
Ionicity Cationic
pH (as is) 7-8
Solubility Miscible with water at any ratio.
Stability to frost Solidifies at 1°C, but is fully useable after thawing
Stability to: Acids, Alkaliks & water hardness Stable in usual concentrations used in pigment dyeing electrolytes processes.Stable.
Storage stability Stable for at least 1 year.

PROPERTIES & USES:

AVCOFIX EP-25 has high affinity to fibres containing anionic sites such as cellulose
and wool fibres. Due to this property the product can be exhausted onto textile
fabrics and garments and cationize the fibres. Pigment particles which are negatively
charged will adhere to the cationic polymer due to electrical attraction. The bond is
not very strong, and in washing off processes some of the pigments are rinsed out and
the desired “wash-out” look is obtained. To stop further bleeding in laundry, a binder
is applied to the “washed -out” fabric as a final step.

APPLICATION:

The exhaust pigment dyeing process consists of the following steps:
  1. Improving absorbency of fabric by a cleaning process and bleaching if needed.
  2. Treatment of the fabric with AVCOFIX EP-25. After this treatment the fabric becomes positively charged.
  3. Dyeing process with AVCOLOR pigments.
  4. After dyeing, fabrics are scoured with AVCORON HWF.
  5. Final pigment fixation is done by treatment with AVCO-BINDER D.
  6. Final drying is done at high temperature as possible, 150°c is the optimal temperature.
DYEING PROCEDURE
A.Wash out effect:
    • Add slowly 3-6% o.w.g AVCOFIX EP-25
    • Heat slowly to 50°c and treat for 10 min.
  1. Cold rinse (x 2)
    • Add 1 cc/l acetic acid
    • Add slowly AVCOLOR PIGMENT (pre-diluted)
    • Raise temperature slowly to 75°c and treat for 10 min.
  2. Cold rinse
  3. Wash with 1 g/l AVCORON HWF at the boil 10 minutes.
  4. Cold rinse
  5. Treat cold with: acetic acid1 cc/l
    AVCO-BINDER D5 – 15gr/l
  6. Cold rinse
  7. Softening, drying and fixation at highest temperature possible (150°c is the optimal temperature.)
B. Dyeing solid shades with AVCOGLOW PIGMENTS or AVCOLOR PIGMENTS
  1. Step 1,2,3 as in wash-out procedure, but increase AVCOFIX EP-25 to 6-8% o.w.g.
  2. At the end of the dyeing step add 5 g/l AVCO-BINDER D and treat for further 5 minutes,
  3. drop bath.
  4. Treat with a second amount of 5 g/l AVCO-BINDER D for 5 minutes at the cold.
  5. Final step is softening, drying and fixation (optimal temperature is 150°c ).
