AVCO-NAV SR

COMFORT FINISHING AGENT FOR POLYESTER

AVCONAV SR is a durable comfort-finishing/soil-release / antistatic agent for polyester and its blends.

SPECIFICATION:

Appearance White dispersion.
Chemical nature Aqueous dispersion of hydrophilic copolymer.
Compatibility Compatible with most other finishing agents used in polyester dyeing and finishing
Ionicity Nonionic.
pH (as is) 6 ± 0.5.
Solubility Miscible with cold water. Dilution with hot water is not recommended. To ensure homogenity of product AVCONAV SR should be stirred before use.
Storage Stable under normal conditions. Avoid freezing as separation may occur. The product may be re-dispersed by agitation after thawing. Shelf life is at least 12 months.

PROPERTIES & USES:

  1. AVCONAV SR produces polyester fabrics of higher quality by enhancing, on a
durable basis, the properties of polyester fabric which appeal to the consumer
    such as:

    a. Increases comfort in wear:

The garment will absorb body perspiration much more readily and will transfer
the sweat from the human skin throughout the treated fabric outside to the air.
AVCONAV SR also imparts a softer handle to un-softened fabrics.

    b. Anti-static effect:

AVCONAV SR minimizes the build-up of static charges in a garment and, therefore,
reduces the clinging effect. The pick up of airborne dust is also reduced.

    c. Lowers soil re-deposition during laundry:

The greying or dulling of garments that occurs during domestic washing is
    reduced

    markedly.

    d. Soil release effect:

The removal of oily or greasy stains by domestic washing is made much easier.
AVCONAV SR is an excellent finish for polyester table-cloth.

  2. AVCONAV SR is very versatile in application, batch-wise, continuous and foam
    application methods are all suitable.
  3. Cost of application is limited to the chemical cost, no extra processing stages
    are required.
  4. AVCONAV SR is an effective dye-bath auxiliary reducing creasing during high
temperature dyeing, minimizing oil spotting onto fabrics in the dye-bath and
    reducing
static charges at the stenter and during making up.
  5. AVCONAV SR imparts the fabric better cutting and sewing performance.

APPLICATION:

The amount of AVCONAV SR and the optimum conditions of application will vary depending upon the goods being processed, the machinery used and, most importantly, the effect required. However 2-6% on weight of goods is sufficient.
  1. Application in the polyester dye-bath:

This method applies to both high temperature dyeing and to carrier dyeing at the boil.
AVCONAV SR is diluted by stirring during the steady addition of approximately four volumes of cold water (mixing directly with hot water is not advised since the dispersion stability may be affected).
The diluted AVCONAV SR is added to the dye-bath at 40°C or below and the dye-bath is adjusted to the pH at which the dyeing is carried out (normally pH 4 to 5). Raise temperature to 60-70°C and hold for 10 minutes to ensure exhaustion of the AVCONAV SR onto the goods.
Add the levelling agent, run for 5 minutes and add the pre-diluted disperse dye. Dyeing is continued as normal.(The final stage being heat setting).

  2. Application from rinse bath after polyester dyeing or after reduction clearing.
The bath should be acidic throughout the treatment (pH 4 to 5).
AVCONAV SR diluted with cold water is added to the acidified bath at 40°C or below. The treatment is started and the temperature is raised to 80°C and held there for 15-20 minutes.
This is followed by a cold water rinse to cool the fabric which is subsequently dried and heat set.
It is possible to carry out the treatment at 60°C but in this case it is essential that the acidity of the bath be kept below pH 4, otherwise the technical effect and durability of the finish to washing may be reduced.
  3. Application by continuous padding procedures.

Padding with 30-40 g/l AVCONAV SR is carried out from an acidic bath. Drying at 110-130°C produces an acceptable finish not quite as durable.
Curing at 130-170°C can influence wet fastness of dyestuffs. Simple wash-off after curing and drying(at 110-130) will eliminate that problem.

AVCONAV SR can be used on washed off prints. The best method is padding (wet on dry or wet on wet) followed by drying at 110-130°C.
AVCONAV SR improves the absorbency of resin treated materials such as Poly-cotton blends. The product is compatible with most resin baths.
