AVCO-SOFT NE

SOFTENER FOR ACRYLICS

AVCOSOFT NE is a cationic softener used for softening Acrylic fibres, yarns and fabrics.
AVCOSOFT NE imparts a very soft, full, wooly handle which is desired by users of Acrylic yarns and knits.

SPECIFICATION:

Appearance Creamy, slightly viscous liquid.
Chemical nature Fatty- polyamine condensation product.
Compatibility
  1. Can be applied with nonionics and cationics product.
  2. Stable to hard water.
Ionicity Cationic
pH (10% sol.) 5 ± 0.5
Solubility Can be mixed in water at any proportion
Storage Freezes at O° C, fully useable after thawing and stirring. Shelf life is at least 12 months.

PROPERTIES & USES:

  1. Softener for all synthetic fibers especially for Acrylics.
  2. Good resistance to repeated washing.
  3. No adverse effects on rub or light fastness.
  4. Good anti-static properties.
  5. Imparts a soft, full hand. Very good results have been received with high-bulk Acrylic
    yarns and garments.
  6. AVCOSOFT NE improves spinning, winding and knitting of Acrylics.
  7. Can be applied as a top finish or in the dye bath.

APPLICATION:

AVCOSOFT NE can be applied as a dye-bath softener for Acrylics, or as a top softening agent by exhaustion and padding methods.

Exhaustion process:

  1. After dyeing, add to a fresh bath, 1-3% o.w.g. of AVCOSOFT NE. Adjusted pH with Acetic Acid to 5-6.
Treat for 15-20 minutes at 40°C, hydroextract and dry.
  2. After dyeing, when bath is cooled down, add to the dyeing bath 1-3% AVCOSOFT NE. exhaustion is done while cooling (only for Acrylics).
  3. Application in the dye-bath (for Acrylics). Add to dye-bath 1-3% o.w.g. of AVCOSOFT NE and continue dyeing in the normal procedure (in this process the softener acts as a low retarding agent).
Padding process:

Apply 10-40 gr/l AVCOSOFT NE, depends on the fabric pick-up.

General recommendation for different types of acrylics:
  1. Loose material (stock dyeing) – Use 1-3% (gives also better spinning properties).

  2. Yarn in hangs form -Use 2-4% (for very soft handle)
  3. Yarn in cones or muffs -Use 1-3% (for easily rewinding)
  4. Woven or knitted material -Use 1-2%
