AVCOTAN REP

THICKENER FOR REACTIVE DYES PRINTING

AVCOTAN REP is a synthetic thickener developed for printing of reactive dyes printing.
AVCOTAN REP is stable in the presence of electrolytes and alkalis found in the reactive dye printing paste.

SPECIFICATION:

Appearance Yellowish tan paste
Chemical nature Synthetic copolymer dispersed in aqueous system with special emulsifiers and solubilizers.
Compatibility Can be used together with all chemicals and dyestuff normally encountered in printing reactive dyes. Should not be used with cationic (basic) dyes. Is not compatible with acids and cationics. Can be used with hard water together with a suitable complexing agent.
Ionicity Anionic
pH (5% dispersion) 6.5 ± 1
Solubility Dispersible in water in concentration up to 5-6%, forms viscous paste.
Storage stability Stable for at least 12 months. During long storage a thin layer of liquid appears on top of drum, stir before use. Sensitive to frost.

PROPERTIES & USES:

  1. Good electrolyte stability.
  2. Increased color yield.
  3. Produces smooth paste during short mixing time.
  4. Printing paste viscosity is stable for long storage time.
  5. Excellent washing-off properties.
  6. Resistant to bacteria and mold growth.
  7. Does not react with reactive, disperse or acid dyestuffs.
  8. Very good penetration properties into high pile fabrics.
  9. Produces thixotropic printing paste which enables to control flow properties of the printing paste.
  10. No need for white spirit for production of the printing paste.
  11. Does not bleed out of rotary screens during printing machine stops.
  12. Does not clog printing screens.
  13. Very easy to adjust viscosity, no need for prolonged swelling time.
  14. No dust formation during paste preparation.

APPLICATION:

  1. When preparing the stock printing paste, all the chemicals should be added to soft water and allowed to dissolve prior to adding the AVCOTAN REP. The thickener should be added while mixing, it will easily disperse and fully hydrate in 15 minutes.
  2. Stock paste formulations for reactive dyes

    Water 835- 685
    AVCO-POLYQUEST KAL 0- 5
    Urea 100-200
    Sodium bicarbonate 20-25
    AVCOSON LL 5 – 15
    AVCOTAN REP 40- 70
    1000

  3. Printing paste preparation:
The dyestuffs should be added to the stock paste while stirring. If needed, viscosity adjustment is done easily by adding thickener during high speed mixing.
  4. Fixation:
Fixation should be done in the normal procedure required by the type of fixation machine and dyestuffs used.

  5. Washing off:
Washing off should be done with soft water, or with tap water with the addition of complexing agents. Temperature, type of washing aids and procedures depends on machinery and type of dyestuffs.

  6. To improve definition of the print borders with problematic designs, addition of AVCOGEN KRK (special antimigrant) is very beneficial. Use of 10-15 g/Kg will result in sharp and clear borders of the printed area.
